What Kind of Celebrity Would You Be?
You Would Be a Down to Earth Celebrity You aren’t easily impressed or star struck, and if you were to become famous, it wouldn’t change your own opinion about yourself. You’d still treat everyone as you always have, and more importantly, you wouldn’t expect to be treated any differently. You’d be friendly to your fans and as accessible as possible. After all,...

Day 15 (Education)
Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I taught preschool.  Obviously, I think education is important. Studies show (and I agree) that the tone for learning is set early on.  The most crucial years of development occur starting at birth and last until age five. To fund my shiny piece of paper degree, I worked for a law firm along with taking out federal student loans.  I graduated with a...

Noli Mi Tangere: Columbus Day My Ass.. →
sonnydisco: To quote a line from the hip-hop group The Goats, “Columbus destroyed more Indians than Hitler did Jews, but on his birthday you get sales on shoes.” In 1500, Columbus wrote to a friend: “A hundred castellanoes (a Spanish coin) are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm, and it is very…

Day 14 (appearance)
As any topic discussed, there are always two sides (if not more) to every story. On one side, one could argue that there is too much emphasis placed on appearances.  Women, especially, are effected by the images we see on the television and in magazines.  Although great strides have been made to convince us otherwise, we are lead to believe that anything less than “perfect” just...

Thanks!  I agree with you.  All-in-all, I actually don’t know much about R.E.M. but I always come back to that song.  I don’t have a particular reason why…I just do :)

Hi Lori, I changed my pick, last minute (if you were referring to Stairway to Heaven in your comment above).  That truly is, in my opinion, one of the best songs ever written.  However, I got to thinking about it and it seemed that it was too obvious…almost cliche, if...

Days 12 and 13 (boys and girls)
While I was growing up, my mom ran a home daycare, I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, I taught preschool for almost five years and I am a mother of two-year-old twins.  Needless to say, I’ve been surrounded by children, of all ages, my entire life.  The differences between males boys and females girls absolutely astonishes me. My husband and I decided that we wanted to...

Love it!  The last time I got a new cell phone, the worker told me I could pick my own #.  Straight-faced, I replied, “867.5309.”  He chuckled a little bit.  My response…”I’m serious.”  So, for a very short time my number was 474-5309.  It...

Day 8 (bff...part 1)
I never had a “best” friend as a young child.  I always seemed to have more in common with adults than I did with other kids.  My three older siblings had all moved out of our parents’ house by the time I was old enough to walk. My mom and dad were always at work. So, as a result, I spent a lot of time with my grandma. Junior high and high school produced a lot of...

The Seven Day (Because I Have a Short Attention...
Day 1 - favorite song from the year I graduated high school. I just checked the top 100 songs from 1997 list.  Wow, I’m almost embarrassed.  This is definitely not my genre.  But since I have to pick…it’d be a tie between Let Me Clear My Throat (DJ Kool) and Pony (Ginuwine).  These songs hold fun memories for me.

loriamb: So, instead of just one song on one day, I thought maybe we could all try this. Since I don’t have a very long attention span these days, I only did it for 7 days. Shall we say that we start tomorrow, Sunday, October 3rd? Let’s use the tag “7 days of songs” so the responses are easy to find.

Day 5 (haters)
Didn’t John Mayer say, “Haters gonna hate, but lovers gonna LOVE!”???  You can’t control other people but you can control you.  So let the haters hate…but always, ALWAYS be true to yourself.  And if that doesn’t work…kill ‘em with kindness.  They hate that.
